It can also copy the HTML hex code to the clipboard...

It is a freeware program to detect the color of any pixel on the screen. Simply run the program, point the mouse cursor anywhere on the screen, and the color detector window will display the RGB values, HTML hex code, and the color name of the color of the pixel pointed to by the mouse cursor. Android Beats Apple iOS in App. Users

TORONTO: Google Inc's Android operating system passed Apple Inc's iOS as the most popular software platform for application downloads as consumers bought more Android smartphones.

The Google platform accounted for 44 per cent of all app downloads in the second quarter, eclipsing Apple's 31 per cent share, according to ABI Research. That was fueled by a 36 per cent jump in Android phone shipments from the previous three months, ABI said.

Google, based in Mountain View, California, introduced Android in 2007 as an open-source platform, allowing any phone maker to use it for free and focus on designing hardware rather than software. Android has helped propel Samsung Electronics Co into the ranks of top smartphone makers and drive a recovery at Motorola Mobility Holdings Inc even as sales of Apple's iPhone surged.

"Android's app downloads per user still lag behind Apple's by 2 to 1," said Dan Shey, practice director of mobile services at ABI.

Global downloads of games, music, news and other apps are expected to rise to 29 billion this year, more than triple the 9 billion downloaded in 2010, ABI said..

Hackers Can Identify What You Type On Your Smartphone

Yeah! Its Strange but true..
WASHINGTON: A research team at Georgia Tech claims that it has discovered how to use a users smartphone to track what the person is typing on the keyboard.
The smartphone accelerometer, an internal device that detects when and how the phone is tilted, senses keyboard vibrations and deciphers complete sentences with up to 80 per cent accuracy.
"We first tried our experiments with an iPhone 3GS, and the results were difficult to read," Patrick Traynor, assistant professor in Georgia Tech's School of Computer Science, said.
"But then we tried an iPhone 4, which has an added gyroscope to clean up the accelerometer noise, and the results were much better. We believe that most smartphones made in the past two years are sophisticated enough to launch this attack," he said.
The technique works through probability and by detecting pairs of keystrokes, rather than individual keys. It models "keyboard events" in pairs, then determines whether the pair of keys pressed is on the left versus right side of the keyboard, and whether they are close together or far apart.
After the system has determined these characteristics for each pair of keys depressed, it compares the results against a preloaded dictionary, each word of which has been broken down along similar measurements, i.e., are the letters left/right, near/far on a standard QWERTY keyboard.
The technique works reliably only on words of three or more letters. "The way we see this attack working is that you, the phone's owner, would request or be asked to download an innocuous-looking application, which doesn't ask you for the use of any suspicious phone sensors," Henry Carter, one of the study's co-authors, said.
"Then the keyboard-detection malware is turned on, and the next time you place your phone next to the keyboard and start typing, it starts listening," carter said.
The study has been published in the paper "(sp)iPhone: Decoding Vibrations From Nearby Keyboards Using Mobile Phone Accelerometers," and will be presented on 20th October....

Google+ Remains A Tougher Challenge To Facebook

SAN FRANCISCO: Google remains undaunted in its bid to create a flourishing online community that can go toe-to-toe with social networking powerhouse Facebook.

The California Internet titan's popular products and services will increasingly be woven into its nascent but fast-growing Google+ social network to make joining irresistible, executives said Thursday.

"We are in an enviable position that we have people who come to Google," Vic Gundotra, vice president in charge of Google+, said at a Web 2.0 Summit in San Francisco.

"We are in this for the long haul... By Christmas you will see Google+ strategy coming together." Google+ has attracted more than 40 million users since it opened to the public about a month ago, but has a long way to catch up with Facebook's membership of approximately 800 million.

In the coming days, programs offered as online services at Google Apps will work with Google+ accounts, which will eventually synch with other popular offerings such as YouTube.

Google plans to eventually open its social networking platform to outside developers to make games and other kinds of installable "apps" that have been part of Facebook's success, according to Gundotra.

Google+ will also eventually allow people to use pseudonyms on accounts instead of their real names, he said, touching on one of the criticisms of the social network.

Google is moving slowly and cautiously to make sure its social network is a safe, stable haven for families, friends, and other associates who connect with one another in "circles" created at the service.

Gundotra acknowledged that Facebook has the advantage of a "network affect," in that complex webs of friends are established there and people might find it daunting to up and relocate to Google+. "The incumbent has a huge advantage," Gundotra said. "If you play the same game, you are not going to win... So we are going to do it differently."

Differently, for Google+, includes giving users more discretion regarding what they share and with whom.

"We do not believe in over-sharing," Gundotra said.

"There is a reason why every thought in your head does not come out your mouth... We think a core attribute to being human is to curate."

Google+ launched with a requirement that people use their real names online in order to let others find them more easily, according to executives.

"We wanted this to be a product where you can discover people you know," Gundotra said. "You don't know 'Captain Crunch' or 'Dog Fart'."

Google co-founder Sergey Brin said that he initially thought Google+ was too complicated, but has come to like the online community that lets users create "circles" of contacts depending on intimacy.

"I have connected with friends who I haven't touched base with in a while," Brin said at the summit. "I wasn't able to do that with existing services because of the way the sharing models worked," he said in an indirect reference to social networking king Facebook. "It just didn't work for me."

Brin said that Google has been streamlining its product line and merging offerings under the leadership of fellow co-founder Larry Page, who replaced Eric Schmidt as chief executive earlier this year.

"I completely agree that some of our products and services seemed scattered over the past few years, and we definitely have been trying to bring them together," Brin said.

"In some ways, we have always run the company as 'let a thousand flowers bloom,' but once they do bloom, you want to put together a coherent bouquet."

Brin added that he was happy in his new role working on special projects, such as Google's self-driving car, and getting to be the "peanut gallery" when Page is grappling with executive decisions.

Android's Icecream-Sandwich Makes Tougher Security Yummier...

There's more to Ice Cream Sandwich than just better camera controls, near-field communication support, and the redesigned interface. Google has also been working on making the latest version of Android the safest yet, and several of the features are mighty sharp for a melty brick of ice cream.

The biggest of them all is that you'll be able to fully encrypt your ICS device. This means that all your data will be on lockdown, inaccessible even to you until you enter in the passcode or personal identification number.

The benefit of this obvious: if lose your phone, you won't have to worry about remotely wiping it. The downside, of course, is that if you forget your password, you're locked out and the only way to get your phone back is to factory restore it. Expect to see renewed interest in cloud-based backup services for Android.

How apps manage authentication and secure sessions will get easier in ICS, thanks to a new keychain API that works in conjunction with the underlying encrypted storage. Any app will be able to use the keychain API to install and store user certificates and certificate authorities securely. It's a very technical change that will nevertheless allow apps to be written more safely from the get-go.
The lockscreen itself has received some effective enhancements, too. The first, and the most widely-talked about, is that you'll be able to unlock your phone using native facial-recognition technology. Called Face Unlock, this tech has been around for a while for other systems, such as Windows, so it's good to see it being ported to a high-profile mobile platform natively.
The most common concern with facial recognition technology is that it can be fooled by a photograph. Android developer Tim Bray says that it can't; and my own tests in 2010 with the Windows facial recognition software Blink failed to fool it then. Obviously, a Windows program and an Android feature are not the same, but given that I wasn't able to log in with a photo two years ago, it'd be a massive failure for the feature if it could happen now.
Other potential facial recognition problems include alterations to your appearance, such as facial hair or make-up, or poor lighting conditions. If the feature can't tell that you're you, it'll open the passcode box for manual unlocking.
Android 4.0 will also let you customize a lockscreen message. This isn't world-shaking, to be sure, but it will allow you to set a "please return to" message for anybody who finds your phone, potentially improving
your chances of getting a lost device returned to you.
Lastly, big improvements have been made to app control. You'll be able to disable bloatware, those apps that come pre-installed on your device, and you'll have the ability to disable background data on a per-app basis.
The disable option promises to let you render an app fully inactive. It won't be able to send or receive data, it won't be able to launch, and it won't display an icon in your app tray. However, because those apps are part of the system partition, you won't be able to fully remove them. That will still require rooting your phone. Nevertheless, this is a massive improvement for people wondering what the heck a Citrix is.
Being able to disable data transfers for apps running in the background provides a stopgap measure for controlling apps without taking the harsher measure of disabling the app outright. While some apps such as JuiceDefender already give users that kind of control, it's enormously helpful to have that as a default Android feature.
These are solid improvements to Android security, although I'd like to see more in the way of exposing permissions and either simplifying them, or helping users understand them, or both. For instance, you might notice that your violent bird-throwing game has permission to send out your location. On the face of it, that sounds bad. But what if the game has a new social networking component that allows you to compete against nearby friends? Making clear how a particular permission is used by an app would be a big boon.

If there are security improvements you'd like to see made to Android, tell me in the comments below.

5 Very Important Disappointments in Apple iPhone 4S

Apple's first iPhone launch under the stewardship of new CEO Tim Cook failed to match the unprecedented frenzy and lacked the magical flair of Steve Jobs. Though iPhone 4S will still sell like hot cakes and might possibly become the best-selling phone ever.

Unfortunately, the Apple aficionados may still find a few things short in their latest iPhone. While Apple augmented the new iPhone with a faster chip, much better camera and voice service Siri, Apple fanboys were left disappointed as they were hoping to see a newly designed, completely revamped iPhone 5 after a wait of over 15 months.

The Missing List of iPhone 4S is as follows:

1. No New Design- The new iPhone 4S failed to excite on the looks. The device is absolutely identical in form factor to the previous model, disappointing fans and investors who were hoping for a thinner, bigger-screened design. Like iPhone 4, 4S also sports a 3.5-inch multi-touch display and retains the 960-by-640-pixel resolution at 326 ppi.

2. NFC Missing-  NFC (Near-Field Communication) is a technology that allows mobile users to use their handsets as a digital wallet. The technology enables users to pay for retail goods or services such as transit rides by waving their handsets across a reader. Meanwhile, other phone makers like BlackBerry and Samsung are including NFC support in their upcoming lineup.

3. Thunderbolt Support Missing- While the Intel's Thunderbolt technology is making its way to the new line of MacBook Pro laptop computers, it was very likely that the new iPhone will also get it. But strangely, Apple choose to keep it out, maybe for iPhone 5.

Thunderbolt technology is a high-speed PC connection technology that brings together high-speed data transfer and high-definition (HD) display on to a single cable. Running at 10Gbps, the technology can transfer a full-length HD movie in less than 30 seconds.

4. HDMI Port- Like its predecessors, iPhone 4S also misses out on the industry standards ports. The new phone also come with Apple's connector to attach to computers, for charging and other peripherals. Apple also missed out HDMI port for sharing with HDTVs.

Apple has introduced AirPlay that will let iPhone users to wirelessly stream what's on their phone to HDTV and speakers via Apple TV. In addition, with AirPlay Mirroring, whatever you do on your iPhone appears on the HDTV at the same time.

5. Facebook Integration- While Apple announced a new notification center, BBM-like messaging service iMessage, and deeper Twitter integration, there was no word on Facebook integration.

So, At Last, we are at a point that iPhone 4S is not suitable for our needs. Lets hope if iPhone 5, gets these all....

Soon, PCs will understand what you feel...

Yes, Its a very popular news coming about that in Washington State, Researchers are preparing for inputs directly from humans, without any device Just like VIVO (Voice In, Voice Out)...
See what they say--
WASHINGTON: A Binghamton University researcher wants computers to understand inputs from humans that go beyond the traditional keyboard and mouse.

Lijun Yin and team have developed ways to provide information to the computer based on where a user is looking as well as through gestures or speech.

Yin says the next step would be enabling the computer to recognize a user's emotional state.
"Computers only understand zeroes and ones. Everything is about patterns. We want to find out how to recognize each emotion using only the most important features," said Yin.

Yin is also considering use of photographs, and even three-dimensional avatars that are able to display a range of emotions.
"We want not only to create a virtual-person model, we want to understand a real person's emotions and feelings. We want the computer to be able to understand how you feel, too. That's hard, even harder than my other work," said Yin.
"This technology could help us to train the computer to do facial-recognition analysis in place of experts," added Yin.
Just see what happens...

Death Of Steve Jobs....

Its very bad to say but Steve Jobs has died...

Steve Jobs, co-founder of computer and software giant Apple Computers, Inc., and until recently its CEO, has died at the age of 56, according to reports from Apple.

After a troubling diagnosis of pancreatic cancer in 2003 followed by a liver transplant in 2009, reports surfaced earlier this year that Jobs was suffering from a recurrence of his cancer. This time out, Jobs was hit with a much rarer form of pancreatic cancer known as islet cell carcinoma, difficult to cure if in late phases.

After Apple went public in 1980, Jobs became and maintained status as one of the technology sector’s leading celebrities, taking the stage year after year and dazzling consumers with Apple’s vast array of computing and entertainment-related products and services, including iPods, iPads, Macs and sites such as iTunes.

Apple has posted this statement on its website:
Apple has lost a visionary and creative genius, and the world has lost an amazing human being. Those of us who have been fortunate enough to know and work with Steve have lost a dear friend and an inspiring mentor. Steve leaves behind a company that only he could have built, and his spirit will forever be the foundation of Apple.

If you would like to share your thoughts, memories, and condolences, please email rememberingsteve@apple.com

We are deeply saddened to announce that Steve Jobs passed away today.
Steve's brilliance, passion and energy were the source of countless innovations that enrich and improve all of our lives. The world is immeasurably better because of Steve.
His greatest love was for his wife, Laurene, and his family. Our hearts go out to them and to all who were touched by his extraordinary gifts.

Download Torrents Without Any Client

UPDATE: Sorry, but Torrific is discontinued.

Hey, I am back... Actually with a very interesting thing...
You heard it right, there is a site named TORRIFIC ...

1. Firstly, make a account there... Using only your E-mail and a Password. Feed it a link to a torrent and it does all of the P2P wizardry automatically, downloads the file and prepares it for you to grab off their servers via HTTP.

2. First, the user interface is Google-simple. You have an account link at the top, and a box in the center where you enter a URL or keyword. You can search by keyword, browse a website by proxy or paste in a direct link to a .torrent file.

3. After you’ve chosen a torrent, the next screen you see will be a summary of the torrent’s contents. Once the download from the swarm is complete, you can be alerted by email, and then you may download torrent files individually, or download a single compressed ZIP of all the files packed together.

To view the torrents currently in your download queue, hit the Home page and you’ll be presented with a list of your torrents and their progress....
